Do you feel that crisp in the air? It’s the seasons changing. While we aren’t seeing the effects in downtown Spokane, dog photos are taking on a new twist.
The shorts and the flip-flops on dog lovers in Spokane and North Idaho are getting packed away in favor of capris, jeans and cute boots.
(Oh come on, we all know most of you reading this are women with an awesome collection of cute boots. I’m one of you. I have several pairs of cute boots. OK, many.)
The leaves around turn a glorious red (yay for maple leafs … um, leaves. Leafs are terrible. Always. Ask anyone from Toronto.). In Spokane Valley, our tree groves are struck by brilliant yellows and oranges.
And I can’t wait.
I love this season. Check out this image of Jacquelin and Lincoln last year at Plantes Ferry.
It’s time for a redo, you two.
Fall officially arrives on Monday, September 23.
Lysbeth and wee Kipton helped me get a headstart on fall with a puppy portrait session in the downtown core. Kipton is Lysbeth’s emotional support dog and you can watch him grow on his Instagram account.
Now I would never call any of my Spokane dog photos anything but adorable, but, geez, you guys … look at this face.
Kipton was getting all set to protect his gorgeous mama, Lysbeth, from any danger nearby. You can see he’s in pre-bark mode here, warning away the big eye of my camera lens.
The morning was crisp, so Lysbeth and I agreed on the whole jeans and cute boots thing. (I did not prepare myself as well, showing up in shorts and a T-shirt … brrrr).
For a little warmup, we strolled over to Indaba Coffee for a latte and a chai tea. Dogs are allowed inside! Who knew?
We went looking for a spot to sit and enjoy our warmup beverages and couldn’t resist a little time on the Steam Plant patio. (If you’re looking for a great steak and a solid dark brew, go here. The Double Stack Stout has always been one of my local favorites.)
As it warmed up a bit, Lysbeth changed into some lighter wear, donning capris and street shoes for that comfortable look.
We got some many more great photos during Kipton’s portrait session. Check out some more in their gallery:

All around the circle
How fun was meeting Kipton? He was a great subject for this week’s theme in the worldwide pet photographers’ blog circle. We had to write and get photos for seasons changing.
Now we get to see if other dog photographers are excited about the onset of fall. Let’s start with Tracy Allard of Penny Whistle Photography, fetching pet portraits in Coppell, TX, and surrounding communities in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Read her post, then click the link at the bottom to get to the next one.
Travel through the circle and when you land back here, you’re home.
Right where you belong.
