3 festive Spokane dogs in buffalo plaid

festive spokane dogs

‘Tis the season for festive Spokane dogs!

Little did I know when I showed up for a session recently that everyone was going to be dressed in buffalo plaid, and it was an engagement session.

Bridger the Scottish terrier, Abigail the chihuahua and Yoda the beagle are dressed to the nines for their starring role in their paw parents pending nuptials.

Of course there was a chance for individual images:

Yoda wasn’t just the perfect playful pup for my wide angle lens. He also struck a lovely pose for a longer focal range with a super soft background.

Don’t you just swoon with how sweet these festive Spokane dogs look in their buffalo plaid?

Cat got your tongue?

The topic for this week’s blog circle is red and I knew I had the perfect session to share for it.

But not much to write about.

I will share some news, though. You may remember last year I was the finalist in three categories of the Dog Writers Association of America writing competition.

This year, it’s four.

The finalists were announced Monday morning and here are the categories in which I’m in the running:

Newspaper article: Remembering faithful hiking buddies on ‘Rainbow Bridge’ Day, The Spokesman-Review, Aug. 30
Online article or blog – rescue or other topic: A journey of love, independence and ‘normal’ living, Aug. 7
Photo series: He was mad he didn’t get to run farther, Feb. 7
Single photo: The love of a dog

A magic moment

Augh … that image of Sophie and Jamie just pulls at my heart strings. I wrote about this amazing duo shortly before Sophie went off on her next journey – across the Rainbow Bridge.

Jamie, by the way, has since added Daisy to get her pack of beagles back up to five and I know she’s going to give that little girl every possible ounce of love she has in her body.

I didn’t win any of the awards last year and won’t get my hopes up for a Maxwell medallion this year when the winners are announced Feb. 14 in a virtual ceremony (no trip to New York City this time).

The competition – judged by peers – is tough with lots of talented writers entering.

It is lovely to be recognized by peers but my soul is always fulfilled more by the dogs I meet, the happy smiles I see on their parents’ faces and the beautiful memories we create together.

Not just festive Spokane dogs … Sandpoint, too!

Since this week is all about red – and apparently read … haha – in addition to our three festive Spokane dogs, here’s one more sweet gal dressed in crimson.

This is Sammy, a boxer mix. She is a current resident of the Panhandle Animal Shelter and ready for her forever home. She’s about three years old and the shelter expects she would do well as an only fur child (not even a cat around) and with older two-legged children.

Contact Panhandle Animal Shelter at (208) 265-7297 ext 100 to talk about your future with Sammy.

All around the circle

Short and sweet, what a week.

Let’s head out on the blog circle now to see more red.

Start with Tracy Allard of Penny Whistle Photography fetching pet and family portraits in Coppell, Carrollton and the greater Dallas – Fort Worth metroplex.

At the end of Tracy’s post focused on a little red truck, click the link to the next post and see where we take you.

When you find yourself back here to festive Spokane dogs, you know you’re home.

Right where you belong.

And while I’m busy building a new website for Big White Dog Photography, reach out and let’s chat about a spring session for you and your pups.
